Men’s XC Fifth at Abington Invitational

ABINGTON INVITE RESULTS
Sophomore Lee Bottoni (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) and classmate Bobby Fogle (Lockport, NY/Lockport) finished seven seconds apart and earned top-20 finishes to lead the Keuka College men’s cross country team to a fifth-place finish during Saturday’s Penn State-Abington Invitational, held at Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
Bottoni, who earned third-team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as a freshman, ran the 8K course in a time of 32 minutes, 55 seconds as the Storm scored 138 points. He earned a 17th-place finish among scoring runners.
Fogle was on his heels, racing in 33:02 for his second second-place team finish of the season and an 18th-place finish among scoring runners.
Sophomore Alex Pollinger (Arkport, NY/Arkport) finished 26th among scoring runners with a time of 34:33, classmate Sam Capozzi (Alpine, NY/Odessa-Montour) was 31st with a time of 35:37 while freshman Richard Matrassi (New York Mills, NY/NY Mills) rounded out the top five with a 46th-place finish after crossing the finish line in 38:28.
Penn State-Abington’s Alex Kane won the race in a time of 29:15, winning by 30 seconds over a field of 72 runners from nine schools.
SUNYIT placed four runners in the top 10 to claim the team title with a score of 36, followed by Morrisville State (58), Penn State-Abington (74), Penn State-Berks (107) and Keuka. Gallaudet was sixth with 146 points, followed by Penn State-Harrisburg (167), Lancaster Bible College (177) and Valley Forge Christian College (242).
Keuka takes a week off before returning to action at the annual Cazenovia Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 29 in Cazenovia, N.Y.
