Women’s XC Places Fourth at Abington

Freshman Allison Bonin was the top finisher for Keuka's women's cross country team during Saturday's Penn State-Abington Invitational.
ABINGTON INVITE RESULTS
Freshman Allison Bonin (Orwell, PA/Northeast Bradford) and Keuka College women’s cross country team earned a season-best fourth-place finish during Saturday’s Penn State-Abington Invitational, held at Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
Keuka’s runners scored 79 points, just one shy of Morrisville State and Penn State-Abington, who tied for second with 78 points. Penn State-Berks placed all five runners in the top eight and scored 20 points to claim the team title.
For the third time in three races, Bonin finished as the Storm’s top finisher, completing the 5K race in a time of 26:09 to finish 10th among scoring runners. She edged senior teammate Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, NY/Waverly) by 30 seconds for first place among the Storm’s runners.
Gorman earned an 11th-place finish with a time of 26:39, followed by junior Samantha Yavorek (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua), who placed 14th with a time of 27:49; sophomore Courtney Woolever (Vestal, NY/Vestal) placed 21st with a time of 29:18 and sophomore Elizabeth Ryan (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) rounded out the top five with a 23rd-place finish 29:48.
Penn State-Berks’ Laura Keller won the race in a time of 22:38, winning by 1:16 over a field of 54 runners from eight NEAC schools.
Keuka takes a week off before returning to action with the Cazenovia Invite, Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. in Cazenovia, N.Y.
