September 24, 2012

Junior Emily Knapsack was named the NEAC's Athlete of the Week after posting four wins over two matches for the Keuka College women's tennis team.
Junior Emily Knapsack (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) earned four wins over the first two matches of the 2012-13 season for Keuka College’s women’s tennis team.
On Monday, Knapsack’s stellar play earned her the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s (NEAC) Athlete of the Week honors.
Knapsack went undefeated through two matches and picked up four wins, all out of the No. 1 position, to power the Storm (2-0, 2-0 NEAC) to a pair of victories to open the season.
Against Cazenovia College last Monday, Knapsack picked up a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-1) in first singles and an 8-2 win in first doubles along with freshman teammate Hailey Roth (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) as the Green and Gold handed Cazenovia an 8-1 defeat.
She followed that up with a come-from-behind win in first singles (4-6, 6-4, 10-4) and an 8-6 win in first doubles along with Roth against Wells College last Wednesday, helping the Storm to another 8-1 win.
The Storm returns to action with a 4 p.m. non-conference clash with the University of Pitt-Bradford on Oct. 2.
