Allen Leads Women’s Golf During Opening Week
September 25, 2012

Senior Courtney Allen finished as the top Keuka finisher during each of the first three golf invites of the 2012-13 season.
The Keuka College women’s golf team is in its second year of competition, and the Green and Gold participated in three events during the opening week of the 2012-13 season.
Keuka doesn’t have enough golfers to compete for the team title, so all three of the Storm’s golfers competed against the rest of the field to see who could log the lowest scores in every competition.
Senior Courtney Allen (Dexter, NY/Sackets Harbor) was the Storm’s top finisher during all three events. Allen, a first-year student-athlete on the team, shot a 109 during the season-opening Keuka College Fall Invitational, held Thursday, Sept. 20 at Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, N.Y. Allen’s back nine total of 52 tied for the third-lowest score on the back nine.
Senior Brittany Miller (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette) was the Storm’s next highest finisher, carding a 120, followed by sophomore Brittany Hadley (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg).
Cobleskill’s Jessica Lu carded a 15-over round of 87 to earn the individual title while the Houghton College team claimed the team championship.
Allen again was the Green and Gold’s best golfer during the two-day William Smith Fall Invitational, held Sept. 22-23 at the Clifton Springs Country Club in Clifton Springs, N.Y. Allen posted a two-day score of 260, followed by Hadley and Miller.
Le Moyne College’s Emilie Oakes shot a 179 (+35) to edge out teammate Emily Stickel by two strokes for the individual medalist honors. Le Moyne also claimed the team championship.
Lastly, during Tuesday’s Elmira College Fall Invitational, Allen carded a 128, followed by Hadley and Miller.
Elmira’s Brianna MacDonald won the event by 18 strokes, recording an 88 (+16), the only one of the 12 competitors to break 100. Host Elmira won the team title.
The Storm returns to action at the annual SUNY Cobleskill Fall Invitational, at 11 a.m. Oct. 12. That meet will conclude the fall portion of the schedule, with the Green and Gold hosting the annual Keuka College Spring Invitational on April 25, 2013.
