September 25, 2012
Junior Paige Golden (Kent, NY/Albion) recorded three double-doubles to power the Keuka College women’s volleyball team to three wins at the first NEAC crossover competition of 2012.
Her stellar play netted the Keuka co-captain the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s (NEAC) Offensive Athlete of the Week honors, on top of being selected Keuka’s Female Athlete of the Week.
Golden finished with 45 digs and 43 kills for the Storm (10-3, 3-0 NEAC), who swept Penn State-Berks, St. Elizabeth and Lancaster Bible College during the first of three NEAC crossover competitions, held at SUNY Cobleskill.
Her best effort came during Sunday’s win over the Chargers, as Golden compiled 18 kills with only three errors on 43 attempts, good for a .349 hitting percentage. She finished the weekend with an impressive .282 hitting percentage and averaged 5 digs and 4.78 kills per set.
During the sweep of Berks, Golden had 14 kills, 14 digs and a season-high 3.5 blocks to go with 2 service aces. The Storm has now recorded sweeps in seven of its 13 matches.
For the season, Golden leads the Storm in kills (154) and is second in digs (184) and ranks fifth in the NEAC in kills and eighth in digs. She’s also third in the conference in kills per set and fifth in digs per set.
The Green and Gold returns to action with a 7 p.m. home match against Ithaca College Thursday night inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.
