Keuka's men's cross country team placed ninth during Saturday's annual Cazenovia Invitational.

Sophomore Lee Bottoni (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) led the Keuka College men’s cross country team to a ninth-place finish during Saturday’s annual Cazenovia College Invitational, held in Cazenovia, N.Y.

For the fourth time in four races this year, Bottoni was the Storm’s top finisher, completing the 8K Equine Center course in a time of 31 minutes, 2.3 seconds, good for 37th place among scoring runners as the Storm scored 233 points. It was Bottoni’s second-fastest 8K time this year.

A trio of sophomores and one junior crossed the finish line after Bottoni. For the third time in four races, sophomore Alex Pollinger (Arkport, NY/Arkport) was the Green and Gold’s second finisher, racing in 32:11.9 to finish 43rd. Classmate Samuel Capozzi (Alpine, NY/Odessa-Montour) finished 44th among scoring runners with a time of 32:20.7, followed by sophomore Bobby Fogle (Lockport, NY/Lockport), who was 51st with a time of 33:29.1.

Rounding out Keuka’s top five was junior Brian DelPino (Oneida, NY/Oneida), who raced in 36:44.7 to finish in 58th place.

SUNY ESF’s Timmy Callahan won the race in a time of 27:22.5, breaking the old course record by 42 seconds over a field of 99 runners from eleven schools.

SUNY ESF placed four runners in the top seven to claim the team title with a score of 32, followed by Hartwick College (80), Colgate (85), SUNY Delhi (102), SUNY Canton (125), Morrisville State (139), Sage (182), Onondaga Community College (196), Keuka, SUNYIT (268) and Bryant & Stratton (294).

Keuka takes a week off before returning to action at the annual CCOC Championships, Saturday, Oct. 16 at Seneca Lake State Park.
