Women’s Cross Country Eighth at Cazenovia

Freshman Allison Bonin (Ordwell, PA/Northeast Bradford) continued her impressive start to her collegiate cross country career with another first-place team finish at Saturday’s annual Cazenovia College Invitational in Cazenovia, N.Y.

Bonin earned her fourth first-place team finish in four meets, completing the 5K Equine Center course in a time of 24 minutes, 16.5 seconds, good for 28th place among scoring runners.

The Storm scored 197 points and finished eighth out of 10 schools.

Senior Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, NY/Waverly) was Keuka’s second-fastest racer for the fourth meet, completing the course in 24:56 to finish 33rd among scoring runners. Sophomore Courtney Woolever (Vestal, NY/Vestal) was 39th with a time of 25:48.4, followed by junior Samantha Yavorek (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua), who placed 47th with a time of 26:28.7, and sophomore Elizabeth Ryan (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) rounded out the top five with a 50th place finish in 26:56.7.

Woolever broke her previous season-best time for a 5K race by 14 seconds.

Penn State-Berks’ Laura Keller won the race in a time of 22:38, winning by 1:16 over a field of 78 runners from 10 schools.

Hartwick College’s Monica Prager won the race in a time of 21:11.8 over a field of 99 runners from eleven schools.

Hartwick had the top two runners and claimed the team title with 48 points, barely edging out SUNY ESF (49). Sage was third (84), followed by SUNY Canton (100), SUNY Delhi (136), Morrisville State (152), Cazenovia (159), Keuka and SUNYIT (263).

Keuka takes a week off before returning to action at the annual CCOC Championships, Saturday, Oct. 16 at Seneca Lake State Park.
