Runners Set Season-Best Times at CCOC Championships

Freshman Allison Bonin (Orwell, PA/Northeast Bradford) set a personal-best 5K time during Saturday’s annual CCOC Championships, leading the Storm to a 12th place finish in Geneva, N.Y.
Bonin ran the 5K Seneca Lake State Park course in a time of 22 minutes, 53.24 seconds to place 50th among all scoring runners. The Storm earned a 12th place finish out of 16 teams, scoring 332 points.
Bonin sliced 36 seconds off of her previous personal-best time in earning her fifth first-place team finish in as many meets.
Host William Smith (44 points) captured the team title, followed by Clarkson University (51), Hartwick College (76), SUNY ESF (115), Wells College (181), Penn State-Altoona (192), SUNY Canton (197), Morrisville State (224), Medaille College (257), Cazenovia College (294), SUNY Potsdam (330), Keuka, D’Youville College (338), Paul Smith’s (355), Hilbert College (402) and SUNYIT (432).
William Smith senior Emily D’Addario won the race with a time of 18:52.08, winning by 14 seconds over Clarkson’s Sarah Governale.
All five of the Storm’s top runners easily established season-best efforts during the CCOC Championships.
Senior Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, NY/Waverly) was Keuka’s second-fastest racer for the fifth time in five meets, completing the course in 23:26.9 to finish 58th among scoring runners. She trimmed 26 seconds off her previous fastest effort.
Sophomore Courtney Woolever (Vestal, NY/Vestal) was 70th with a time of 24:29.12, trimming 1:19 off of her previous season-best 5K time.
Junior Samantha Yavorek (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) was the Storm’s fourth-fastest finisher, running in 24:41.68 for a 74th place finish while sophomore Elizabeth Ryan (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) rounded out the top five with an 80th place finish in 24:59.33.
Yavorek dropped 54 seconds off her previous season-best time while Ryan dropped 1:57 off her previous best effort.
Keuka returns to action at the Wells College Invitational, 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.
