Women’s Tennis Routs Daemen, Improves to 4-1

Keuka College’s women’s tennis team concluded the fall portion of the 2012-13 season with a convincing, 8-1 home win over Daemen College Saturday afternoon.
The Storm (4-1) went 5-1 in singles play and swept all three doubles matches to win for the second straight match while improving to 3-0 at home.
Two members of the Green and Gold: junior Sarah Schneider (Rushville, NY/Marcus Whitman) and freshman Hailey Roth (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) picked up both singles and doubles wins against Daemen.
Roth and junior Emily Knapsack (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) picked up an 8-3 win at first doubles, while Roth picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles for Keuka.
Schneider earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at third singles and teamed with sophomore Danielle Delgatto (Naples, NY/Naples) for a 9-8 (8-6) win at second doubles.
In the rest of Saturday’s action: senior Kara Dewitt (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) won 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles while both freshman Heidi Van Buskirk (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and sophomore Nikita Wilkins (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield) posted 6-0, 6-0 wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, for Keuka.
Sophomore Savannah Fuller (Philadelphia, NY/Indian River) and junior Chelsea Craine (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) picked up an 8-0 win at third doubles to complete the sweep of doubles matches for the Storm.
The Green and Gold returns to action on April 5, 2013 with a road match against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Lancaster Bible College.
