Bottoni Paces Cross Country at Wells Invite

Sophomore Lee Bottoni (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) was the fastest runner for the Keuka College men’s cross country team during Saturday’s Wells College Invitational, the sixth time in six meets Bottoni has been the fastest member of the Storm.

Bottoni completed the 6K course in Aurora, N.Y. in a time of 24 minutes, 46.08 seconds to place 12th among scoring runners as the Storm finished fifth out of five teams, scoring 111 points.

Morrisville State’s Austin Townsley captured the meet in a time of 23:00.67, besting 46 runners from five schools to claim the win.

Morrisville State also won the team title, placing all five runners in the top 10 to finish with 29 points. Daemen College was second with 63, followed by Hobart College (66), host Wells (83) and Keuka.

For the fifth time in six meets, sophomore Alex Pollinger (Arkport, NY/Arkport) was the Green and Gold’s second finisher, racing in 25:59.25 to finish in 20th place.

Classmate Samuel Capozzi (Alpine, NY/Odessa-Montour) finished 22nd among scoring runners with a time of 26:14.66, followed by junior Brian DelPino (Oneida, NY/Oneida), who raced in 29:02.59 to place 28th. Senior Justin Hess (Clyde, NY/Clyde-Savannah) rounded out the top five, finishing 29th in a time of 29:09.79.

Keuka returns to action at the annual North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship meet, at noon Saturday, Oct. 27 at Penn State-Abington.
