Gorman Earns All-NEAC, Storm Finishes 7th

Senior Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, NY/Waverly) earned All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) honors during Saturday’s annual NEAC championships after her 19th-place finish at the 5K course at Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
Gorman crossed the finish line in a time of 25 minutes, 20 seconds to earn third-team All-NEAC as the Keuka College women’s cross country team scored 181 points to finish seventh out of 12 teams.
SUNY Cobleskill claimed the team championship after scoring 34 points, followed by Penn State-Berks (49), Wells College (81), Morrisville State (107), Penn State-Abington (156), Cazenovia College (176), Keuka, Gallaudet University (204), Lancaster Bible College (220), Penn State-Harrisburg (284), the College of St. Elizabeth (287) and SUNYIT (300).
Wells sophomore Emily Middlebrook edged out SUNY Cobleskill sophomore Rebekah Johnson by three seconds to win the race in 21:52.
After finishing as the Storm’s second-fastest runner during each of the first five meets, Gorman has now earned back-to-back first-place team finishes.
After Gorman, sophomore Elizabeth Ryan (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) earned a second-place team finish and was 35th among scoring runners in a time of 26:49.
Junior Samantha Yavorek (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) finished 40th in 27:24, sophomore Courtney Woolever (Vestal, NY/Vestal) was 43rd in 27:31 and freshman Allison Bonin (Orwell, Pa./Northeast Bradford) finished 44th among scoring runners with a time of 27:42.
More than 85 runners competed in the year-ending NEAC championship meet.
