Sophomore Lee Bottoni (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) closed out the 2012 cross country season the way he started it: with a first-place team finish during Saturday’s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship meet at the 8K course at Lorimer Park in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.

For the seventh time in seven races, Bottoni crossed the finish line as the Storm’s fastest runner. On Saturday, facing the NEAC’s best, Bottoni ran the course in 31 minutes and 49 seconds, good for 24th place out of 91 finishers.

The Storm placed ninth out of 10 schools with a team score of 216. SUNY Cobleskill placed three runners in the top 10 and won the meet with a score of 52 points, followed by Morrisville State (54), SUNYIT (70), Penn State-Berks (112), Wells College (156), Penn State-Abington (164), Penn State-Harrisburg (169), Gallaudet University (196), Keuka and Lancaster Bible College (251).

Abington freshman Alex Kane captured the individual title by 15 seconds over Cobleskill junior Geoffrey Hall, winning in 29:05.

For the sixth time in seven meets, sophomore Alex Pollinger (Arkport, NY/Arkport) was the Green and Gold’s second finisher, racing in 33:33 to finish in 35th place.

Classmate Samuel Capozzi (Alpine, NY/Odessa-Montour) finished 46th among scoring runners with a time of 34:56, followed by sophomore Bobby Fogle (Lockport, NY/Lockport) who was 54th with a time of 36:28.

Junior Brian DelPino (Oneida, NY/Oneida), who placed 57th in 37:42, rounded out the Storm’s top five finishers at the year-ending NEAC championships.
