Junior Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) scored 20 points and the Keuka College women’s basketball team used a critical 15-6 second-half run to knock off The College at Brockport 63-54 Sunday in the Onnie’s Classic at Nazareth College.

The Storm (1-1) placed three in double-figures. Junior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals while sophomore Brittany Hadley (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) scored 10 points for Keuka, which shot 21-for-48 (43.8 percent) for the game, compared to 21-for-60 (35 percent) for Brockport (1-2).

Bandrowski was named to the All-Tournament team after scoring 37 points with 8 steals and 6 rebounds over the two-days of the Onnie’s Classic.

Sophomore Erica Pendrak (Utica, NY/New York Mills) added nine points and four rebounds as six different members of the Storm scored five or more points.

Senior Mariah Mouzon (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) added seven rebounds and six points while junior Taylor Szwec (Candor, NY/Candor) added five points for the Storm.

Bandrowski shot 8-for-12 from the field and made her first ‘3’ to put Keuka ahead 11-3. Brockport used a 6-0 run to claw within two, 11-9, but Szwec scored all five of her points and Hadley added four points during a 9-3 spurt as the Storm took a 20-12 lead.

A 10-2 run by Brockport gave the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game, 22-20 with six minutes remaining in the half, but Keuka went into the break leading 33-29 after Hadley made a pair of free throws and Bandrowski drove the lane and hit a layup.

In the second half, neither team had much offense as the two schools combined to go 1-for-7 to start the half. Mouzon snapped that scoreless streak with an offensive rebound and a putback, and the Storm enjoyed a 41-38 lead before Gravel knocked down an 18-foot jumper.

That basket started a 12-3 run as the Storm pulled away for their first win of the season. Pendrak made back-to-back three-pointers, Hadley made a pair of free throws and Gravel and junior  Casey Chamberlain (Perry, NY/Perry) each hit buckets to fuel the decisive run.

Alexandra Marshall scored 19 points for the Golden Eagles.

Bandrowski, Marshall, Cyndi Matsuoka (Vassar), Caitlin Drakeley (Vassar) and Lindsey Kelly (Nazareth) were named to the All-Tournament team.

The tournament raised money for Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, specifically the Onnie Wells Child Life Activity Room in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

With the money not spent on overnight accommodations for the tournament, Dr. Jorge L. Díaz-Herrera, Keuka’s president, handed over a $400 donation to Golisano Children’s Hospital, as part of Keuka’s contribution to the cause.

Keuka returns to the Weed Physical Arts Center for three straight home games, Tuesday through Dec. 5. The Storm faces the University of Pitt-Bradford in their home opener, 6 p.m. Tuesday before taking on Hilbert College at 6 p.m., Nov. 26.
