January 23, 2013
Sophomore Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) scored a career-high 29 points with 10 rebounds and senior Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) and freshman Vinney Zambito (Elba, NY/Batavia Notre Dame) each added 13 points as Keuka College’s men’s basketball team defeated Cazenovia College 82-68 Wednesday night.
Sophomore Jared Wagner (Pittsford, NY/McQuaid) added nine points and eight rebounds while Zambito snared seven rebounds for the Green and Gold (7-9, 5-3 North Eastern Athletic Conference).
It was Healey’s fourth double-double, and third in the last four games. The forward connected on 11 of 18 shots and 7 of 12 free throws for Keuka, which sealed the win by making 13 of its 17 second-half free throws.
The Storm trailed 39-37 heading into halftime, but shot a red-hot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) in the second half en route to 45 points to snap a two-game losing streak.
Matt Perry and DeMarcus Bernard each scored 11 points for Cazenovia (4-12, 1-7), which shot 35.7 percent from the floor and made only 6 of 30 three-pointers (20 percent).
The Storm returns home for two NEAC contests this weekend: against SUNYIT at 3 p.m. Saturday, and vs. SUNY Cobleskill at 3 p.m. Sunday.
