Men’s Volleyball Falls to Vassar, SUNYIT

The Keuka College men’s volleyball team traveled to Utica, NY for the SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational and the Storm dropped matches to Vassar College and SUNYIT Saturday afternoon.
Keuka was swept by Vassar, falling 25-8, 25-11 and 25-21. In the tournament’s second match, the Storm (1-5) won two of the first three sets, but fell to the Wildcats 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 15-8.
Freshman Connor Hinman (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) compiled 12 kills, 23 assists, 13 digs, 4 blocks and 3 aces over the two matches.
Sophomore Ryan Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) added 30 assists and freshman Christopher Mooring (Chesapeake, VA/Hickory) had 12 kills, 13 digs and 7 blocks on the day for Keuka.
Hinman had 6 assists, 4 kills, 2 digs and 1 block, Mooring added four kills and three digs while Kelly had 11 assists and 5 digs in the loss to Vassar.
Facing host SUNYIT, Mooring recorded 10 digs, 8 kills and 7 total blocks and Hinman added 17 assists, 11 digs, 8 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks.
The Storm dropped the first set, but won the next two to take a two sets to one lead, but couldn’t hang on against IT.
Kelly added 19 assists 9 digs and 3 aces while freshman Tom Campbell (Penfield, NY/Penfield) had 15 digs, 9 total blocks and 7 kills.
Sophomore Krystian Lucey (Barrington, NH/Coe-Brown Northwood Academy) chipped in with for kills and three digs as the Green and Gold recorded nine solo blocks, 18 assisted blocks, 37 kills, 58 digs and eight service aces in the five-set loss.
Keuka hits the road for the Bard College Invitational Friday and Saturday. Friday night, the Storm will play Berkeley College at 5 p.m. and Mt. St. Vincent College at 7 p.m., then Keuka takes on Sage College at 11 a.m. and host bard College at 1 p.m. Sunday.
