The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team was slated to host Hilbert College at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 2013 season opener, but that contest has been canceled.

Instead the Storm — who went 11-3 and advanced into the championship of the North Atlantic Conference’s (NAC) West Division in 2012 — will open the season with a pair of non-conference road games.

Keuka, which has claimed two of the last three NAC/NEAC championships, will kick off the season on the road against SUNY Canton at 1 p.m. March 16 and Clarkson University at 1 p.m. March 17.

The Storm handed Canton an 18-1 loss in the 2012 opener.

The Green and Gold will host Hartwick College at 4:30 p.m. March 27 in the home opener before playing Adrian College at 4 p.m. March 29.

Keuka returns 15 student-athletes from last year’s squad that went 7-1 in the NAC and knocked off Cazenovia College in overtime before falling to top-seeded Morrisville State 11-10 in triple overtime of the NAC West championship.

Included among the returners are four All-NAC student-athletes, led by senior Molly Hogan (Horseheads, NY/Horsehads), who garnered NAC West Defensive Player of the Year honors after posting one of the stingiest seasons by a goalie in the country.

Hogan started all 14 games in goal, recording an 11-3 record with a 7.02 goals-against average. She allowed 92 goals and made 118 saves in 786 minutes with a 56.2 saves percentage.

Juniors Maggie Bonafede (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Taylor Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and sophomore Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) each earned second-team All-NAC west in 2012 for third-year head coach Kelly Lickert.

Bonafede, an attacker, started all 14 games and led Keuka in points (72), assists (46) and was fifth in goals scored (26). Smith, a midfielder, started all 14 games and led the Storm in goals (42) and caused turnovers (21) while finishing second in groundballs (35) and third in points (50). Maguire, a midfielder, started all 14 games and scored 24 goals with three assists (27 points). She also scooped up a team-most 41 groundballs.

Keuka will be captained by Bonafede, Maguire, Hogan, senior Courtney French (Massena, NY/Massena) and sophomore Olivia Hudson (Adams, NY/South Jefferson).
