Men’s Lax Beats Cazenovia 18-8

The Keuka College men’s lacrosse team ended its 2011 regular season riding a seven-game winning streak after defeating Cazenovia College 18-8 on the road Saturday.
The Storm now stand at 8-4 overall and improve to 5-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) while Cazenovia falls to 4-9 overall.
Keuka scored 10 goals in the opening half, five in each period, while holding the Wildcats to just three first half goals. The Storm proceeded to tally six more goals in the third period while allowing just one to hold a commanding 16-4 lead. Cazenovia out-scored Keuka 4-2 in the final period to make it an 18-8 final.
Keuka led in shot attempts (47-32) while both teams picked up 18 ground balls. The Storm dominated the face-offs winning 19-of-30 with rookie Zachary Koczent (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) winning 10-of-16 and classmate Kaisch Wheeler (Phoenix, N.Y./Baldwinsville) winning 9-of-14.
