The Keuka College baseball team is holding its inaugural bass fishing Derby, Sept. 6-7 at Point Neamo on Keuka Lake.
The derby, which includes both large and small mouth bass, will serve as a fundraiser for the Storm's baseball team, which for the first time in program history is taking a trip to Florida this spring.
The entry fee is $20 per person, with the grand prize going to the largest bass (large or small mouth). Prizes will be awarded to the top three bass caught in Keuka Lake. To be eligible for a prize, the bass must have been caught in Keuka Lake.
Registrations can be accessed here. Interested parties can complete the registration and mail it back to head baseball coach Rick Ferchen, or registrations can be emailed to Ferchen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The registration deadline for sending an application in the mail (Rick Ferchen, Head Baseball Coach, Keuka College, 141 Central Ave., Keuka Park, N.Y., 14478) is Sept. 3.
Interested parties can also stop by Ferchen's office (Wagner House, room 10) during the week between 7 a.m. and noon until Sept. 5 to complete an application.
The derby commences at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, and concludes at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7. The prize winners will be announced at 5 p.m. Sept. 7, with first prize slated to receive $500, followed by second place ($250) and third place ($100). Those prizes are based on getting 500 or more entries.
Fish must be checked in at one of the weigh stations prior to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6. All weigh stations will reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday and will remain open until 3 p.m. Sept. 7.
