Storm Take 4th at NEACs

The men’s cross country team took fourth out of seven teams at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships on Saturday at Penn State-Berks. Keuka finished with a team score of 116 while Keystone College won the NEAC championship with a score of 22. Baptist Bible took second with a 58 while Philadelphia Biblical University claimed third (81). Finishing after the Storm were Penn State-Harrisburg (119), Penn State-Berks (152), and Wells College (174).
Rookie Jaime Conway (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM), running in his first race of the year, placed first for the Storm as he came in 19th place overall out of 54 runners. Conway ran the 8K race in a time of 34:29 and was named to the All-NEAC honorable mention team for his performance at the championships.
Classmate Paul Rahn (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) finished two spots behind Conway to collect the last spot on the All-NEAC honorable mention team. Rahn ran the race in 35:07. Sophomore Brady Begeal (Northville, N.Y./Wells) placed two spots behind Rahn, 23rd overall, while finishing at a time of 35:48.
Sophomore Ryan Stack (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) and freshman Chris Mazella (Depew, N.Y./Depew) rounded out the Storm’s top-five by placing 33rd and 35th. Stack ran at a time of 37:38 while Mazella posted a time of 37:54, respectively.

The men’s cross country team finished 12th out of 13 teams at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational at Genesee Valley Park this past Saturday. Keuka ended with a score of 380. Allegheny College won the Invite with a score of 28 after having four of the top seven runners. Western Ontario University placed second (52), followed by Mansfield University (86), University of Rochester (95), and Nazareth College (121).
For the first time this season, Keuka was led by sophomore Brady Begeal (Northville, N.Y./Wells). Begeal placed 128th overall out of 150 runners. He ran an average mile of 6:45 while finishing the 8K race in 33:34.
Fellow sophomore Ryan Stack (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) placed second for Keuka in 130th place in a time of 34:22. Rookie Josh Uline (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) finished just four seconds behind Stack (34:36) in 131st place. Junior Kris Cooley (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) ran in 137th place (35:22) while freshman Chris Mazella (Depew, N.Y./Depew) placed 142nd in a time of 36:40.
The Storm will next run at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Penn State-Berks.
Storm Finish 5th at Naz Invite

The men’s cross country team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Nazareth College Invitational this past Saturday. Keuka finished with a score of 151 while Fredonia State won the Invite with a 27. Utica College took second overall with a 46 while Nazareth (52) and Daemen College (121) took third and fourth, respectively. Keuka finished ahead of Medaille College (184), Hilbert College (201), and Wells College (202).
In the Storm’s only non-8K race of the season, sophomore Ryan Stack (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) finished first for the Storm in the 6K race. Stack placed 24th overall in a time of 25:16. His time is good enough for third all-time at Keuka in a 6K race.
Rookie Paul Rahn (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) finished second for the Storm coming in two places behind Stack (26th) in a time of 25:41. Sophomore Brady Begeal (Northville, N.Y./Wells) placed 29th overall in a time of 26:47 while rookies Josh Uline (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and Chris Mazella (Depew, N.Y./Depew) placed 35th (27:56) and 37th (28:38) overall.
The Storm will next run in the University of Rochester Invitational this Saturday, Oct. 13 beginning at 11 am.
Storm Place 15th at Geneseo

The Keuka College men’s cross country team took 15th place out of 15 teams at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational at Letchworth State Park this past Saturday. Ohio Northern won the race with a finale score of 24, just edging out host Geneseo who ended with a total of 40. The University of Rochester (90), Houghton College (122), and SUNY Geneseo Alumni (154) rounded out the top-five. Keuka finished the 8K race with a total team time of 2:46:56 and a team score of 478.
Newcomer Kraig Connor (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) paced the Storm as he has done in every race so far this fall. Connor finished 157th overall in a time of 32:15. Fellow freshman Paul Rahn (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) came in five spots behind Connor (162nd) in a time of 32:58.
Sophomore Brady Begeal (Northville, N.Y./Wells) had his best finish so far this season as he came in 165th place with a time of 33:28. Junior Kris Cooley (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) and sophomore Ryan Stack (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) rounded out the Storm’s top-five. Cooley placed 167th overall (33:53) while Stack placed 169th overall (34:22), respectively.
The Storm will next run in the Nazareth Invitational this Saturday, October 6 beginning at 1 pm.

Storm Blanked in Tourney Opener

The Keuka College baseball team lost its first round game in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament on Friday, falling to the top seeded Wildcats of Cazenovia College 7-0. The Storm now face elimination in its next game in the double-elimination tournament.
The Storm were held scoreless throughout the nine-inning game as they managed just five hits. Cazenovia plated two runs in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the seventh as they scattered 12 hits.
Keuka sophomore starter Simon Mills (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack) pitched six and 2/3 strong innings allowing six earned and striking out two. Senior Brady Begeal (Northville, N.Y./Wells) pitched the final inning and a 1/3 without giving up a run.
Keuka will square off against No. 3 seed Penn State-Berks who lost its open round game to Keystone College by a score of 10-2 at 2:30 pm.
